THE US STATE DEPARTMENT IS SUBSERVIENT TO THE UN IN THE CASE OF HAITI

THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION HAS NO CLEAR POLICY OR OBJECTIVES FOR HAITI

THE UN SPENT OVER 4 BILLION DOLLARS IN HAITI WITHOUT ANY MEASURABLE ACCOMPLISHMENT

The United Nations charter was signed on June 26, 1945 from which time Haiti has been a member. The charter became effective as of October 24, 1945. There were initially 27 members and now there are 192 members at the present time.

Haiti was always there. Despite Haiti’s adherence to democratic principle for more than 200 years, and holding membership with the UN from the beginning this has not given Haiti any advantages. Even though Haiti is the mother of modern human rights, its citizens are in a constant fight to keep alive the principles that our forefathers demonstrated to the world in 1804.

What does Haiti have to show for its participation in the UN besides several botched missions with no positive benefits to its citizen or the country as a whole?

MINUHA (1993-1996)

MANUH (1996-1997)

MITNUH (1997)

MIPONUH (1997-2000)

MINUSTHA (2004-PRESENT)

For almost 20 years and more than 4 billion dollars in expenses, the UN to this day cannot show any concrete proof of accomplishment for these exorbitant sums spent in Haiti. Haiti has not shown any increases in: security, institutional capacity and governance, services to its citizens etc.

Why were they there, except to plunder Haiti’s natural resources, desecrating the wonderful memories and valiant prowess of our forefathers?

The UN’s meddling into Haiti’s politics has dated back to 1993, when the bootleg army of Haiti left because of the United States’ occupation and overthrow of the democratically elected government of President Aristide.

A close look at the UN leadership will clearly demonstrate that the UN is not an organization whose aim is to protect peace for their participating members but to increase the control of the G8 nations into the less developed world economically.

The leadership of the organization for the past 70 years has spoken volumes to its direction and countries should be careful if considering being a signing member of the UN.

Present

The current United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is a calculated Politician. Since his tenure in South Korea politics, his moves were always aimed at bolstering his position on the international political scene. Although most, prior to him becoming the UN secretary General, considered him as an obscure figure and yet most of his political moves from South Korea were aimed at becoming the Secretary General of the UN.

He is well travelled and was involved with most of the member countries of the UN charter. By the time he postulated for the position to succeed Kofi Annan, he was quickly becoming a favorite of most of the members with veto power in the security council due to past dealings, thus propelling him as a front runner for the next chief of this dubious organization called the UN.

The UN suffered a deadly blow from the US when the war on terror was launched in 2001.  Finally at that time the UN secretary General was a black man from Ghana. We must also remind the world that the Bush administration in its humiliating coercive diplomacy has further undermined the leadership of the UN while Kofi Annan was heading the organization. The UN was rendered powerless; the war went on as a one man show and was later forced to become involved in Iraq.

The membership of impoverished countries as signing members to the principal governing such a partial organization has been viewed as a free pass to countries in the Security Council to become involved in their business as they see fit.

Ban Ki-Moon to support our assertion that he is indeed a clever and coercive diplomat.

The UN accomplishments in Haiti or in any of their meddling around the world have had a dismal record to show for its bloated budget estimated at around 7 billion a year. Although their responsibility is to provide security in Haiti, after 7 years in operation the situation is still tense.  The need for security in Haiti was estimated at 20,000 police officers or a combination of several security forces to secure the Haitian borders, environment, air, space etc. With such clear objective, one would think that the UN after 7 years of operation in Haiti would be able to claim that the Haitian police force is bolstered to 20,000. To date, however, the police forces are still less than half way from objective and the headcount is currently under 10,000 after 4 billion dollars being spent on Minustha in Haiti. This mission dated back from 2004 and to-date is a total failure.

Having in the White House a black man as Obama, hope was again alive for Haiti in the mind of Haitians in Haiti and abroad. Knowing that President Obama was in close proximity to Haitians in Chicago and his own administration has a few Haitians in charge. But hope has rapidly eroded for Haitians and change may never come our way while President Obama is in power.

Ban Ki-Moon’s calculation was that the UN has to do what is necessary to protect their self-interest in Haiti by making sure that the Obama administration, the greatest contributor to the UN’s annual budget is not on their tail.

At that point, it was decided that it was time to engage a Washington insider for the UN with responsibility to oversee Haiti by enlisting President Bill Clinton to subdue the Obama administration since they did not have clear objectives or stated goals for Haiti.

The job of keeping the Obama administration passive in the case of Haiti was quite easy since President Clinton’s wife Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in charge of priorities set by the State department.

The Haitian people were once again duped by the presence of President Clinton at the helm of decisions taken on behalf of Haiti by the UN and the United States.

Bill Clinton, a former President of the United States today looks as incompetent as the Préval/Bellerive administration in Haiti. He is a man that a great number of Haitians are fond of due to the fact that he restored President Aristide to power and turned the clock back on coup d’état supporters by letting them know that such behavior will no longer be tolerated. Yet all his goodwill now with the Haitian people is eroding.

The recruitment of Bill Clinton for the UN is further from being good for Haiti, because President Clinton brought back to Haiti former President George W. Bush—a man with no compassion for Haiti and its people and its solemn declaration against President Aristide. Aristide is man that the majority of Haitians are waiting to see again on Haitian soil. Clinton’s behavior indicates that he has no respect for the will of the people.

Recently, again President Aristide manifested his desire again to return to Haiti to help his compatriots. Phillip J. Crowley and Mark C. Toner from the State Department made a dubious or plagiarized a statement which is nothing more than the statement made by President Bill Clinton made in Haiti in 2010. This further proves that the State Department has no clear policy or stated goals for Haiti when its current member is regurgitating statement from a UN employee when it comes to current affairs in Haiti.

Recruiting President Bill Clinton as his special envoy in Haiti was a clever coup by Ki-Moon against Haiti

President Clinton is a man who understands the Haitian dossier fairly well since he has been involved in Haitian politics in the past and has given the coup de grace to Haiti by using his clout with the US government to mask the ineptness of the UN in Haiti.

Clear priorities that an American President should apply in Haiti have not been considered. A country where basic infrastructure is non-existent, one would think that electricity, road construction, fiber optics and communications, which would lead to job creation, would be encouraged. No

President Clinton knows that if there is to be lasting and meaningful change in Haiti, the mission of the UN must accompany projects geared at alleviating the burden of the masses, i.e. access to work, food, schools, potable water, healthcare etc.

A study commissioned by the UN dubbed the Brahimi Report has specifically outlined some of the steps necessary in order to have a successful mission in Haiti to this day; the UN has failed to implement its own commissioned study recommendations for Haiti.

To add insult to injury, Paul Farmer by any comparison is been considered as a friend of Haiti, since his appointment as Bill Clinton representative in Haiti, has not done much to defend the Haitian dossier specifically post-earthquake, the cholera epidemic and the return of Jean-Bertrand Aristide in Haiti. These were issues that were dear to him prior to his appointment. His mouth has been kept shut so that he does not suffer Seitenfus’ fate.

The offices of the UN are characteristic of the United Nations strategic dealings with members around the world. Their headquarters are based in countries whose specific economic interest and Security Council ties, are either members of the Security Council or are major contributors to the annual budget of the UN.

The financing of the UN should be of great concern to those countries adhering to the UN charter if a country does not want to be under the dominance of imperialist nations and their meddling into their internal affairs.

With President Obama’s administration having no clear policy objectives or stated goals for Haiti, and Clinton and Paul Farmer at the mercy of the United Nations, Haiti will be the loser.

Down with Clinton, down with the UN, long live the sovereign nations of Haiti fertilized with the blood of our forefathers.

God bless Haiti……
